LAND OF BLISS MEDITATION CENTER

Community Outreach Recap October 2026

During Khenpo Karma Tenkyong’s October visit, Land of Bliss has been grateful to share

mindfulness, compassion, and connection with our community through these special offerings.

Mindfulness with Students

Khenpo and Larry Carlson visited a Native American school in Penryn, California. Students from several grades explored simple ways to quiet the mind and practice mindfulness. Land of Bliss facilitates this visit each year with Stan P., and it has become a warmly anticipated tradition for students and staff.

An Evening of Sound and Healing

More than 40 people gathered at Unity in the Gold Country Spiritual Center in Grass Valley for

a one-hour sound bath. Through soothing instruments and a loving-kindness Chenrezik Sadhana. Khenpo and Larry—his student of ten years—created a peaceful space to unplug, relax, and receive healing blessings.

Animal Blessing and Compassion in Action

Our animal blessing organized by Land of Bliss celebrated the bond between animals and their caregivers. Each animal received a blessed bandana, and each caregiver received a protection string. Together, we raised $500 to support Gold Country Animal Clinic. They are an affordable spay-and-neuter clinic in Grass Valley, CA. We are grateful to Melanie Sullivan for sponsoring the location and promoting the event.

A Mindful Hike at Empire Mine

At Empire Mine State Historic Park, we spent two beautiful hours walking in quiet reflection,

pausing for Dharma conversations, and enjoying the healing presence of nature. It was a

reminder of how much Mother Earth can teach us when we become still enough to listen.

After the hike, the Clemens family in Nevada City, CA welcomed local Dharma practitioners into their home for a heartfelt teaching on the importance of caring for our aging parents and bringing awareness to our responsibility as adult children. Just as our parents cared for us when we were young, we should recognize their changing needs and offer them love, compassion and support as they grow older.

We ate a wonderful meal together and Khenpo led a healing Medicine Buddha Puja and we concluded our gathering at the Guru Rinpoche statue, offering a prayer flag with the aspiration that it's blessings of peace, compassion, and healing extend to all sentient beings.

Land of Bliss Meditation Centers purpose is simple: to touch the community, bring the Dharma into everyday life, and plant seeds of compassion for all sentient beings.
